In Family We Trust
There are often times in a person’s life when he or she is hit
with some form of adversity. It could be the loss of a friend or stress at work
or school, or even something as simple as losing the big game. It’s in these
times when some people think that there is no one around them that can help
console them or help bring them back up from rock bottom. However the one thing
in this life that makes all those moments goes away just as quickly as they’ve
come is family. With family backing a person and empowering them to be a better
member of society they learn that nothing is impossible. Families no matter the
size are always there to help pick each other up and dust each other off. It is
almost expected that brothers and sisters, moms and dads, sons and daughters
will always be there for one another and provide a sort of blanket of comfort
when things don’t go according to plan.
Families all across time weather big or small have shown how
important it is to stick together. For as long as families have been part of
society they have been losing loved ones or been stricken with some kind of
illness or disease that really brings everyone down. These really are dark
times in their days, but when they all stick together and show their resiliency
they make it through it no matter what. My family has lost a few members of it
and I say that it was the most trying times in our lives. But we didn’t just
roll over and lose our minds about it. We stuck together and showed our support
for one another and made it through those times. Of course it was difficult but
I knew with my family by my side that we would all make it out of the rain
clouds and into the sunlight.
We all have good times and bad times but it’s really those good
times that make it worthwhile to have a family around you. You’re going for a
big promotion, or you have a big date coming up, or something even as simple as
doing your homework. Family members will be there to help each other through
these times to celebrate with, give advice or even answer a couple questions
for you. That’s the great thing about family is they all have lots of knowledge
from years of experience. It could be grandpa or grandma with stories of old.
Mom or dad with knowledge of the world today, even big brother or sister who
had Mr. Johnson last year and know how he makes up his homework. Having family
around you to love and support you is what really makes living a life a great
thing.
Holidays come and go every year. We gather together with our
families to celebrate these holidays. But in retrospect we really aren’t gathering
to celebrate said holiday so to speak. Really it’s a celebration of having your
family together to see each other and show the love and friendship that is the
foundation of your lives together. Now I love Christmas and Thanksgiving just
as much as the next person. But it’s what I do during these holidays that I love
so much. Gathering with my family and maybe enjoying some football if it’s on
or feasting on a ham or turkey and sharing stories of things that may have
happened during that year. We all come together around the holidays to share
with one another our experiences that we’ve gone through during the year. It’s
the time of year to be thankful for those you have around you and in your life.
I find that family is important to me because without family who
are we and where would we be? Even though some may not have had the perfect or
happy family and yes some may have had a hard or rough life. But it’s because
of their family that they are the way they are today. The majority of the time
family is the one thing that you can always count on to always have your back.
From time to time you’ll hear of families always fighting or messing with each
other and I never understand why that’s so. But I can guarantee that if you
messed with one of them that you’ll be messing with all of them.
Life, however, doesn’t always bless some with a mother or
father, brothers and sisters. We often find a family somewhere else. It could
be joining a branch of service, or playing on a sports team, or even the people
you work with. Those are looked at as families for many reasons. All of you go
through training, playing a game or a busy Saturday night at a restaurant. You
all build each other up and pick one another up and dust each other off. In
these instances you grow together and you learn to be part of something bigger
than yourself. It becomes an unbreakable bond like a family. These people that
find solace in these types of families really learn a lot of themselves and the
ones around them. They learn that no one is perfect but without this family to
build them up, they feel like they will just stumble and fall.
There are often times in life when you want to step away from
the normality of everything and go for something big. Something you have been dreaming
of since you were a child. A lot of people will look at you and say you are
crazy. You will never achieve that which you wish to accomplish. But then there
is a voice in your ear that says. “Yes you can. You can do this no matter how
hard it is.” That voice is your family. They keep a solid foundation of faith
in your future endeavors. My family has been there for me through thick and
thin. Through sacrifice, through blood, through sweat, through tears. Never
will I let them down, and never will I let them fall. Because with family you
can do anything with the right amount of support.
I believe I have been blessed with an incredible family. They
have been there in every step of my life thus far. Friends come and go, but
family members will always be there no matter what. No matter your relationship
with your family, whether it is good or it’s bad. They are still there to
support you. Family will always last and defeat the test of time if you believe
enough in it. No one should have to wander this lifetime alone. Go out and find
a family that will accept you and if you already have one then love them with
all you have and never let them go.
